Welcome Networkers!

The SYICCN is a provincial non-profit organization that is dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of young people, aged 14 to 24, in or from government care in the province of Saskatchewan. Government care includes youth who are or have been in foster care, youth custody, kinship care, living with a "person of sufficient interest" or PSI, and those who have been adopted.

We are a youth-driven, “by youth, for youth,” organization. Our purpose is to ensure that our members can have a voice in their lives and the community, connect with peers who share the same experiences, and assume positive roles in their lives.

We believe that young people’s voices should be heard and respected; and that their concerns and opinions are fundamental in promoting awareness and change to the quality of services they receive.

Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for Youth in Care Release October 09, 2025 We’re proud to share the newly updated edition of Rights & Responsibilities: A Handbook for Youth in Care & Youth Connected to Child & Family Programs!   This project has been an ongoing effort over the past several years, with major updates taking place over the last year and a half with support from and in partnership with the Ministry of Social Services. The goal was to refresh and expand this important resource, guided by youth, for youth, to ensure the content is meaningful, relevant, and truly useful for young people navigating life in care for young people in Saskatchewan.   Our deepest thanks go first to the countless youth and alumni of care who guided this process every step of the way — from shaping the language and content to choosing the fonts, artwork, and overall design. Your voices, experiences, and creativity are what make this handbook meaningful and relevant. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Social Services for their continued partnership and support in bringing this update to life.   This updated handbook truly represents what SYICCN stands for: amplifying youth voices, promoting awareness, and creating tools that empower young people to understand and use their rights.
